Joyce Speight Ricks was born on April 27,1957 to the late Joseph Speight and Lillie Mae Speight. She departed this life on March 25, 2020 at Vidant Health in Tarboro, NC. She received her education in Nash County public schools. She was employed with Nash County Schools and Burlington Sheffield Industries for many years. Joyce was a member of Philadelphia Missionary Baptist church where she served on the usher board. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Arthur Ricks Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her mother, Lillie Mae Speight of Nashville, NC; two sons, Lee Arthur Ricks, Jr. "Pete" (Caminca) of the home and Dennis Jerome Ricks "Birdie" (Sabrina) of Rocky Mount, NC; five brothers, Milton Warren, Joseph Speight (Odessa), Kennedy Speight (Pam), Greg Speight (Felicia) and Louis Speight (Charlissa) all of Nashville, NC; five sisters, Janet Clinton (William), Alma Cooper (Mac), Angela Speight and Jackie Speight, all of Nashville, NC, and Deborah Harris (Craig) of Stockbridge, GA; one brother-in-law, Bernard Ricks of Newark, NJ; seven grandchildren, Lesean Harrison of Nashville, NC, Markevis Silver of Rocky Mount, NC, Cierra Crews of Greenboro, NC, Brandon Ricks, Isaiah Ricks, Ayden Ricks and Lee Arthur Ricks III all of Nashville, NC; a special friend, Jean Gilliam; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many other loved ones and friends.
