Mattie Ruth Newton

Mattie was born in Edgecombe  county to the late Sydney Thomas and Genera Wilson. She was one of eleven children. She gradruated from G.W.Carver High School in 1954, she  was a lifelong member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. She loved to sing and was a usher. She retired from the state of North Carolina. She dedicated her life to her children affectionately called "the big 8". She was proceded in death by a son, Steven R. Wilson.

She leaves to cherish: her children, Linwood, Jacquelin(Charles), Theresa, Myra (Craig), Scott, Jamie, and Geniece. 23 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren. one brother, John and sister Irene.
