Onnie Mae (Bobbitt) Thorne

Ms. Onnie Mae Bobbitt Thorne was born to the late Bennie Bobbitt and Zell Williams on February 13, 1929 in Nash County, NC. She was educated in the Nash County Public School System.

At age 16, Onnie Mae accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. she joined Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church USA of Rocky Mount NC. where she remained active and faithful until her health declined. " Sister Thorne" as she was often referred, loved the Lord and she made it well known. She was a prophet and Missionary. She was a mother and father to her children, grandchildren and countless others. She loved and cared for her children and her grandchildren. She  raised them all well and taught them to love the LORD. She would give you the shirt of her back with no questions asked. She would often sing her favorite song "you are my sunshine" to all whom she loved.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: One son, Joe Thorne, Jr. of Washington, DC; Three daughters, Stella Thorne Rogers of the home, JoAnne Thorne Richardson of Rocky Mount, NC and Gloria Jean Thorne Blanks of Bronx, NY; seventeen grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a massive host of family and friends.
